Sometimes I think and plan my paintings, at other times it is intuitive. Originally I was an oil painter. I especially liked doing expressionistic landscapes and my favorite place was the southwest. Occasionally I painted people and worked to bring life to their faces, or then to paint big flowers infused with sensuality. I had always wanted to paint in the abstract. In 2001 this journey began and included exploring the possibilities in the newest acrylics and its products. At times the work is textural, monochromatic, even industrial and metallic. I then have to revisit bright and bold color. I like to go back and forth and explore in oils and realistic themes, and then to the abstract in acrylics and to paint from a more internal place. It all keeps me challenged.
